Introducing our team!
We are a team of award-winning photographers, photojournalists and friends who love every minute of our jobs!
Eunice Montenegro
Eunice originally hails from Brazil where she had a successful career as a journalist and owner of a public relations firm. But itchy feet for photography got a hold of her and, after moving to Victoria, she realized her dream of following her true passion. Eunice has two diplomas from the Western Academy of Photography, one in professional photography and one in advanced visual communications. She has won several international awards for her work and her photographs have been featured by some of the world's leading fine art magazines. Eunice is well-known for her fashion photography and she has helped put together several local and international fashion model portfolios. In addition to photography, Eunice also holds two degrees -- one in teaching and one in journalism -- and she applies these skills to her career as a photographer almost every day. Eunice currently teaches portrait photography & wedding photography at Camosun College in Victoria.
Christina Craft
Christina is also hopelessly addicted to photography. While at the Western Academy of Photography, Christina won the award for "best overall student" and has since gone on to win awards from Kodak, the Wedding Photojournalist Association, and DPChallenge. With a master's degree in broadcast and documentary journalism, visual storytelling comes easy to Christina and she loves to incorporate dramatic scenery into images with people. Her nature photography galleries received two million visits last year and her wildlife photography placed as a finalist with the Nature's Best Photography competition and semi-finalist with the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest. Christina currently teaches wedding photography at the Western Academy of Photography.
Julie Williams
Like many of her co-workers Julie also has a diploma in professional photography from the Western Academy of Photography where she won the award for "Best Stock Photo" - a really tough category! Before photography, Julie was a full-fledged ski bum, living broke but extremely happy in beautiful Banff. After traveling every inch of NZ in an old Toyota Van, she has continued to move a little further west each year until finally making it to Victoria. In addition to photography, Julie also has a diploma in hospitality and tourism from Selkirk College (and graduated 4th in her class!), which is an awesome background for the kind of work she does now -- we believe it's so important to have the right personality to work with people from all different ages, backgrounds and cultures. We're super excited to have Julie on our team!
Laura Taylor
We count ourselves very lucky to have such a great photographer working with us! Laura takes great pride in building relationships with each of her clients. Laura graduated from the Professional Photography program at Western Academy of Photography and we are proud to call her one of our fun and funky wedding and portrait photographers PLUS our photo retouching specialist.
Fairen Berchard
There's no question that Fairen Berchard's uninhibited approach to photography screams out funky! If you want crazy-creative unconventional pictures, all you have to do is ask for Fairen. After spending the first part of her school life attending the Maharishi School of the Enlightenment (where she was encouraged to be as free-thinking and creative as possible), Fairen also attended the Western Academy of Photography where she specialized in fine art photography. Since graduating, Fairen has gone on to create blow-your-mind fine art pieces for a huge audience of photography connoisseurs.
Georgie Wilson
Georgie Wilson found her love for photography thanks to her father, who gave her a camera at a young age. Originally from Tasmania, Australia, Georgie has since traveled extensively pursuing her passion for capturing those surroundings and the people within them. While in Ireland, she met her future husband and moved with him to Canada. She set about diversifying and her talents by studying Professional Film Studies at Capilano College earning Dean’s list recognition. After working for more than three years in the television and film industry
she came to Victoria where she furthered her studies at the Western Academy of Photography earning a diploma in Professional Photography. Georgie is excited to begin her professional career here in Victoria.
Cary Chiu
Cary Chilli, as we like to call him, is our office manager extraordinaire. With such a huge team of photographers, he keeps this place running like a well-oiled machine. In another life, Cary is a famous lawyer and we love that we have someone who is more of a "left brain" thinker on our team!
More of our photography partners
FunkyTown Photography is proud to team up with an awesome group of photography partners, including Kirk Klein, Kira Nelson, Amanda Wright, Julie Anderson and Julie Norcott. We offer you you truly unparalleled talent here in Victoria, across Canada and around the world!
